Mr. Jones
is originally from Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. Mr. Jones
was a student of Ms. Shelly Moore at Waccamaw High School. Upon
graduation from Waccamaw Mr. Jones attended Winthrop University
under the direction of Dr. Bill Malambri and earned a Bachelor
of Music Education degree.
Prior
to his arrival at Fort Johnson in 2005, Mr. Jones student taught
under Mr. Mike Doll at Rawlinson Road Middle School in Rock
Hill, SC and served as Band Director at Hartsville Junior High
School in Hartsville, SC. In his first year teaching Mr. Jones
was honored with the "Outstanding First Year Teacher Award"
at Hartsville Junior High School. He was also recognized with
the "Making A Difference Award," an honor given to
a Darlington County School District employee who had made a
difference in the lives of those they teach and work with. This
was an honor in which Mr. Jones was nominated for the award
by his students, band parents and fellow district employees
among all members in Darlington County School District. Mr.
Jones is also listed in Who's Who Among American Teachers. The bands in Hartsville received superior ratings and the O.P.A. each his three years at Hartsville.
Since arriving at Fort Johnson middle school in 2005 the bands of Fort Johnson have performed in three different states - South Carolina, North Carolina and Florida. The festival bands have received straight superiors all three years and currently two concseuctive O.P.A. awards, with hopes of receiving their third this spring. Each of these accomplishments by the band students are a first in school history.
Mr. Jones
assist with the James Island Charter High School marching band
and maintains membership in the Charleston County Band Directors
Association, South Carolina Band Directors Association, South
Carolina Music Educations Association, and Music Educators National
Conference.
Mr. Jones
resides in Charleston with his new wife Michelle.
